The Japanese party finally arrived 45 minutes behind schedule, and was indeed the same group from the previous evening. From the look of their condition, they were regretting the fact that they had booked a fishing trip after such a heavy night. They certainly didn’t look prepared for tackling an apex predator out in the open ocean.
Mark cast off the mooring lines and Don nosed the boat out of the harbour. Once at sea, they were met with a heavy swell and, to a man, the Japanese went into shutdown mode, either in the wheelhouse or just lying down on the deck

AMAZING FISHING STORIES

‘We always keep some wood and kindling and matches here, just in case anyone gets caught out on the lough or wants a dry place to have lunch. You must have started the fire yourself. The rest was in your imagination, Mr Cuthbertson, believe me!’
