Childwall Golf Club

Childwall is a testing 6470 yard parkland course,demanding accuracy from the tee.The course design was based on the recommendation of James Braid when the Club moved to its present excellent site at Gateacre in1938. Over the years it has undergone some alterations, mainly to increase the length.In addition to the course the Clubhouse is extremely attractive, serves excellent food and has a friendly, hospitable atmosphere.

Cottrell Park Golf Club

The Mackintosh course, is named after Alfred Donald Mackintosh of Mackintosh the 28th Chief of Clan Mackintosh and Chief of Clan Chattan, who resided at Cottrell during the 19th and 20th Centuries. The course provides 6,407 challenging yards off the white tees and has been designed around the original features of the rolling parkland, including a Roman Motte.

The greens in particular are well guarded so your iron play will be tested to the full.The par 3s are also tricky to negotiate and you will need to carefully consider the clubs you use from the tee on them. If all of that leaves you in need of a drink, the clubhouse has a great atmosphere to relax in, and the catering facilities offer a full range of snacks and meals.

This is a picturesque, parkland course which is always to be found in immaculate condition throughout the Summer playing season. The layout is flat and easy walking, with no hills to speak of, and boasts a plethora of water hazards to snare the errant shot. The signature par three sixteenth hole, some 179 yards off the back tee, ‘asks the question’ late in the round with water lurking along and on both sides of the green. The small, undulating putting surfaces will test the very best exponents of the art of putting but the principal challenge at Creigiau is to be found off the tee – hitting the beautifully manicured and mown fairways will surely hold the key to having a good score here.

Thorndon Park Golf Club

Thorndon Park Golf Course which was opened in 1920 was laid out by the world renowned course designer Harry Colt. Colt’s Essex strategic masterpiece is set within 240 acres of an Elizabethan deer park which was owned by the Petre Family. Its glorious tight fairways and fast draining soil are the envy of any course. Individual challenging holes gently undulate through the veteran woodlands dating back to the 13th Century.

Established in 1893 our Private Member’s Golf Club offers a warm welcome and a challenging 18 holes. Set in beautiful parkland, the course has hosted many of the major events in the Essex County calendar and is the home of the prestigious Armitage Cup. We are only a nine iron from Canary Wharf but you would not think it when playing our little oasis on the edge of the city. You will need a handicap certificate and knowledge of golfing etiquette, but we guess you would expect that from a long established club! Corporate events as well as Golf Societies are very welcome and we currently have a limited number of memberships available. The Clubhouse can also be booked for social events, business lunches, wedding receptions and other family celebrations.
