Beverley’s relatively small greens are widely admired as among the best in the area at 5,695 yards from the yellow tees (6,017 from the white) Beverley is not a long course but no two holes are alike.Our fairways are in the main generous in width but the rough will certainly punish the wayward shot. Our small greens provide one of the best putting surfaces in the region – all year round – and while there are few bunkers, those that do exist are certainly not purely for decoration.Beverley is a very special golf course with more than a handful of feature holes, each of them memorable for their individual challenges. The Honourable Company Of Edinburgh Golfers

In 1744, a committee of the Gentlemen Golfers of Edinburgh drafted the first 13 rules of golf to compete for a silver golf club, presented by the City of Edinburgh, over Leith Links. John Rattray, a physician and champion, was the first winner and was declared ‘Captain of the Golf’ and thus winner of the first recorded open golf championship on 2nd April 1744.

Taunton & Pickeridge Golf Club

Taunton & Pickeridge is a traditional members’ golf club set on Pickeridge Hill in the Blackdown Hills about 3 miles outside Taunton. The golf course was designed by Mr Henry Fowler out of the rolling contours of the land and has views over the Vale of Taunton and the countryside for miles beyond. It is a course of traditional design and though not a long course, it is still a very good test of golf. In recent years, the condition of the course has improved markedly and we like to think that our greens are as good as you will find anywhere in Somerset. A new Clubhouse was added in 1997.
