Founded in 1908, Newcastle-under-Lyme Golf Club has always been based on its present site but, from the original 9 holes, has been extended to the present 18 holes which have been in use since the 1960’s. Much of the course is played through mature woodlands and presents a stern test for all degrees of proficiency, in particular the 15th, the signature hole.

Cleckheaton, founded in 1900 and designed by Alister Mackenzie, the Yorkshireman responsible for many of the world’s greatest courses including Augusta National and Royal Melbourne, bears many of the great man’s hallmarks. The holes offer a good blend of “risk and reward” while several greens have the undulations and borrows for which his designs became famous.

Eaglescliffe & District Golf Club lies one mile to the north of the historic medieval riverside town of Yarm, and is situated on rolling terrain shelving down to the River Tees. A short drive from the towns of Stockton, Darlington, and Middlesbrough, the area is readily accessible by road, rail, and air.Founded in 1914 as a 13-hole course on Yarm Back Lane, Eaglescliffe moved to its present position in 1928 with a long 18-hole, Par 77 course designed by the famous James Braid.

The Royal Burgess Golfing Society of Edinburgh traces its origins back into the eighteenth century with the first publicly recorded explicit reference to its existence in 1735 appearing in a nineteenth century edition of the Edinburgh Almanac. It is unlikely that the worthy founder members – merchants, writers, bankers and others – realised that they were forging such a rich and colourful part of the history of Edinburgh and the game of golf. As they played their golf on Bruntsfield Links and drank their ale in the Golf Tavern, they lived for the enjoyment of the moment and were somewhat unconcerned about recording their activities for posterity.
