Oakdale Golf Course is 6470 yards long, Par 71, SS 71 for gentlemen and 5513 yards long, Par 72, SS 72 for lady golfers.Designer Dr Alister MacKenzie created a unique mix of moorland and parkland with no two holes alike. Built on a gently sloping site with the Oak beck running through, the course will appeal to all standards of golfers. Generous fairways and beautiful scenery abound. Just 10 minutes walk from Harrogate town centre Oakdale has an abundance of wildlife. Grey squirrels, roe deer and foxes are often seen. The Green Keepers have taken a great deal of trouble to introduce wild flowers into certain areas of the course.In the past the club has hosted professional tournaments and at present hosts the prestigious Oakdale Acorn, a Yorkshire Order Of Merit event.There are many interesting holes, the 10th and 14th being a fine test of golf but without doubt good scoring at Oakdale will require you to play the par 3’s well. The 6th is a 207 yard hole of great character, the 9th being the signature hole of only 153 yards presents a water hazard in front of the shallow green and the 12th a 181 yard hole having water again in front of the green.

Royal Norwich Golf Club

The Club was formed at a Meeting held in the Council Chamber of the Norwich Guildhall on 8th November 1893. The Duke of York (the future King George V) consented to become our Patron the following day and the Club’s emblem was therefore designed around the white rose of York. The Club takes pride in its Royal patronage that has continued thereafter.The first 9 holes covering some 2,920 yards were opened on St Andrew’s Day, 30th November. The official opening of the Club took place on 1st February 1894, by which date 18 holes measuring 4,925 yards were in play. In March 1894 a 9 hole shortened course of 2,425 yards was established specifically for play by ladies.

Pannal Golf Club

Pannal Golf Club lies to the south of Harrogate amidst glorious countryside. It is one of the premier clubs in the North of England, founded on 28th June 1906, on land leased from The 5th Earl of Harewood, who became the Club President. A 9-hole course was opened for play on 8th September 1906. The need soon arose for 18 holes and Sandy Herd, Open Championship winner in 1902, was retained to lay out the course. An Exhibition Match between James Braid and Harry Vardon signalled the official opening of the extended course on 11th April, 1908.In 1933 a scheme for course alterations was submitted jointly by Sir Guy Campbell and Major CA. Mackenzie giving Pannal a championship layout. The course which resulted has stood the test of time, challenging players of the highest ability to this day. The total yardage of the course is 6622 with a SSS of 72 and a par of 72.

It was at Sheringham that Miss Joyce Wethered, later to become Lady Heathcote-Amory won her first championship at the age of 18.The course celebrated its centenary in 1991 and remains one of the most picturesque in the region – the view from the 5th tee is one of the most memorable in golf!
