Designed to the highest specifications by Jonathon Gaunt, Macdonald Linden Hall, Golf & Country Club’s 18-hole golf course offers a real challenge to the good golfer while remaining sympathetic to the average player. We are now taking reservations for golf day packages during 2007. Golf days start from £30 per person including breakfast, 18 holes of golf and lunch. All golf days can be tailored to your exact requirements.

Mapperley Golf Club

The club was founded early in the 1900’s. Named ‘St. Andrews Institute Golf Club’, the name of St Andrews coming from a local church on the corner of Mansfield Road and Mapperley Road, Nottingham. Very little is known of those days but in the issue of St. Andrews Parish Magazine dated 30 November 1903 the Golf Club is mentioned.

Longhirst Hall Golf Course

The course is sprinkled with lakes. Ducks, geese and swans share the surroundings with the golfers. You can see the grounds of the old hall in the east and there’s Blueberry Wood in the north. In 1997 when The Old Course opened, 42,000 trees were planted. Since then a further 10,000 have been planted , adding to the landscape created in the design of the second course

How it all began…. A Souvenir hand book of Newark Golf Club published in 1921 credits Mr Stuart MacRae (pictured left) with having introduced golf to Newark in about 1890. Mr MacRae, together with about a dozen fellow enthusiasts including Dr Ringrose (a fellow Scot) and Mr E H Nicholson, laid out 6 holes on the Sconce Hills elevated earthworks in a field on the Farndon Road near the river Devon.

ewton Green Golf club was founded as a 9-hole common land course in 1907. It is one of the oldest golf clubs in Suffolk.The Common land area now holds 8 holes for the 18 hole course plus a spare hole we maintain for the villagers 9 hole rights, practise, and as an emergency hole when we undertake any large scale work on the course.
