Glyn Abbey is situated on the southern slope of the picturesque Gwendraeth valley. The surroundings are heavily wooded and there is an abundance of bird life. A further 35,000 trees were planted during construction of the course which was opened for play in 1992.The course is close to a number of tourist attractions including Pembrey Coastal Park, Kidwelly Castle and the Gwendraeth Valley Mineral Railway & Llanelli, 5 miles to the east is host to the National Eisteddfod in Millennium.

Willie Park designed and constructed the present course in 1907 and further changes were completed in 1924 by Harry S. Colt a renowned golf architect who was also a Member of the Club. Use the HISTORY button to read a more detailed account of the formation and annuls of this Club dating back to the mid nineteenth century. The course measures 6348 yards with a Standard Scratch of 70. Every hole requires a well placed, sometimes long drive, to give the opportunity of a par or better. The short holes are testing and often club very differently to their measured length. Greens are fast but true.

Elderslie Golf Club was constructed in 1909 on land owned by Elderslie Estates who permitted various golf courses to be built on their extensive lands around this time.Elderslie, the birthplace of William Wallace in 1270, the course itself encompasses the Newton Woods with all it’s Wallace connections.The course is lush parkland with a large variety of trees, and follows a route from the 3rd tee to the 13th green round the woods, with ever changing views, and at the 9th green a magnificent outlook over the Clyde valley to Ben Lomond. Initially an extra 9 hole course was built for ladies and juniors, but this was taken over for grazing during the 39/45 war and never reopened. In 1924 James Braid was asked to report on the course, but he made no major recommendations and the layout today is largely unaltered from what was built in 1909, although 2 new holes were constructed on the old 9 hole course.
