Blunsdon House Hotel & Golf Course

Blunsdon House Hotel originated soon after the Bath and West Agricultural Show was held at Swindon in late 1957, when farmers Peter & Zan Clifford took in bed & breakfast customers to help out a friend. The guest house became a licensed country club in 1960, and then a fully licensed hotel in 1962. We have climbed through hotel ratings of listed, approved, one, two and three star, to become the first four star hotel in the county of Wiltshire. The Clifford family still own the hotel, Peter, Zan, son John, daughter in law Carrie are the directors and third generation Ben, Christopher & Grace all contribute to the business.

Peterborough Milton Golf Club

Peterborough Milton Golf Club has a fine, well-established par 71 parkland course set in the grounds of the Fitzwilliam Estate, many of the holes being played in full view of Milton Hall. In the late 1920s, the 6th Earl Fitzwilliam built a nine hole course in the grounds of Milton Hall for his own use and for his family and friends. To prevent urban development in the early 1930s this course was offered for private lease and R Stutt & Company of Paisley constructed a new 18 hole course, designed by James Braid, which became Peterborough Milton in June 1938. The original thatched Clubhouse still stands looking up the 13th/14th fairways.

Gosport & Stokes Bay Golf Club

This club can claim a proud place among the pioneers of the game of golf in the South of England, having been formed as long ago as 1885. It was originally formed under the name of the United Services Golf Club to provide a Golfing facility for Officers in the Army and Navy stationed in Portsmouth. It continued to flourish under that name for more than half a Century. However just prior to WW11 the name was changed to its current name as it began to loose its exclusively military character.
