The Burstead Golf Club was designed by the late Patrick Tallack in September 1991. It was laid to seed in the spring of ’92 and opened for play in July 1993. Although relatively new, the course already shows maturity beyond its years, with the greens in particular establishing an excellent reputation.

18 holes, par 70, SSS70, gently undulating heathland, with fast-running fairways lined by firs and oaks. This is one of the better Essex courses without doubt. Four par 3s but only two par 5s means that scoring below 70 is more difficult than it might seem at first. Possibly the greatest threat comes in the form of tightly-bunkered approaches to the subtly-contoured greens. With the pleasant terrain, short walks between green and tee, and a sunny climate, this is a lovely place to be and to play golf. The best time of year is probably late summer into early autumn – August/October – though it is perfectly playable from April onwards.

Established and opened in 1980, Thorne is an exquisite Parkland Course set in the heart of South Yorkshire’s beautiful countryside, and only minutes from the M180. Thorne boasts 3 elegant water featured holes as well as tight fairways that are watched over by nearly 6000 fully developed trees. The course is family owned by Mr & Mrs. Richard Highfield and the course is managed by their son Edward & the clubhouse by daughter-in-law Hannah. We welcome players of all ages and abilities. Our course has been designed with a variety of holes that are both easy for the beginner yet challenging for the most avid golfer.
