Set amongst the rolling hills of Berkshire and Hampshire, Sandford Springs boasts a trio of challenging nine hole courses, a welcoming clubhouse with extensive facilities, a Sandford Springs Golf Academy and a well-stocked golf shop with custom fitting services.Sandford Springs makes best use of its enviable geography to present three challenging and distinctly different nine-hole loop courses – The Park, The Wood and The Lakes.The course was designed by Hawtree & Son, founder members of the British Institute of Golf Course Architects, ensuring the quality clearly apparent today. The first eighteen holes were officially opened by Nick Faldo MBE and Bernard Gallacher OBE on 6 June 1989, a date celebrated annually at the Summer Ball. The final nine holes were added in the summer of 1991.

Southampton Golf Club

Southampton golf club was established at the Municipal course in 1935.Prior to this the club was nomadic playing competitions on other courses, much like a society today. Some events were even staged on the Common on Sundays. The Sports Centre, and the Golf Course, was the brain-child of Sir Sidney Kimber. He envisaged the council providing leisure activities for the people of Southampton after the Great War and work finally started in the thirties.

The course is 102 years old and remains a challenging test of golf for all standards of golfer. Congratulations to the Ladies Section who are celebrating their Centenary anniversary this year and I wish them every success.A professional programme of woodland management has been undertaken over the last two years to protect the long term sustainability of the course by improving light and air to all areas. The beneficial improvements are already contributing significantly to the high quality course presentation. Over the coming years further bunkering and tee improvements are being planned to reflect the developments in club and ball technology with golfers now hitting the ball further and at times straighter!! The original character of the course will be maintained.

Visitors. Stoneham is one of a select band of courses, of which it can be said that there is not an uninteresting hole in the round. The course is 6392 yards from the back tees, with a par of 72 and a SSS of 70. It provides a good challenge to golfers of all abilities as the course favours brain over brawn. Many of the approach shots here are uncompromising – you simply must make it onto the putting surface or face some serious recovery work.
