Riverside Golf Club

Originally designed by Billy Bell Jr., River Ridge opened in 1986 and has been changing and improving ever since. Today, the course offers golfers of all skill levels a challenge, with yardages from 5,362 to 6,777. But now it is changing again! Since its inception, River Ridge has rebuilt the first nine holes and every sand trap on the course and installed a fourth set of tees. In 2004, it opened the Victoria Lakes course with nine new holes, which operates as a stand-alone nine out of a temporary pro shop located off Victoria Avenue.

Durham City Golf Club is one of England’s oldest inland clubs having been inaugurated in December 1887.During that time we have had three homes within the ancient city of Durham moving to our third, and hopefully final course, here at Littleburn in November 1974.The course is a delightful meadowland course laid out on the banks of the River Browney just off the A690 some 2 miles SW of Durham City.

The Ramside Course comprises of three loops of nine holes – The Princes, Bishops and Cathedral Courses. Each loop has its own individual features, but all blend well with each other, and allow different Courses of the Day.The course is maturing well, and the young tree copses, protected in the first years by blue stakes, are now growing well, particularly in the more sheltered areas. With a vibrant membership, and as an increasingly popular Corporate venue, Ramside is rapidly becoming known as one of the North-East’s top courses.It is a fair course, which was designed to allow the good golfer to make thinking shots with options to take score-reducing risks, while the high handicapper will not be demoralised as there are playable alternatives on most holes.

The 18 hole parkland course whilst not too long, 5984 yards to be exact, is popular with many seasoned golfers, yet is no too daunting for the less experienced. There are no hills to climb but the undulating nature of some of the fairways may leave you with a demanding approach to the well manicured and receptive greens. The front 9 holes are more tree lined than the back 9, so a premium is put on accuracy. The closing holes are very picturesque finishing with the imposing mansion house as a backdrop. This really is a course suitable to all levels of golfer who will all benefit from this magnificent setting close to the Durham City centre.

One of the most improved golf clubs in Essex, North Weald Golf Club was originally designed by Peter Allis and Clive Clark and redesigned by David Williams in 1994. This par 71 course at 6377 yards, was chosen as the venue for the Youth Shield Final, the Essex Matchplay Trophy (The Allan Lockwood Trophy) and has also been chosen to host the Essex Amateur Championship in 2008. It has a demanding layout that offers a challenge to all levels of golfer.
